Nissan's design process has always begun with a question. Not simple questions like "what can we put into the next model year?" or "what class of vehicle will sell best?" When Nissan designs, it asks questions like "What would driving look like if we didn't have to drive?"

The answer is Nissan's Inteligent Mobility initiative. Earlier today, Nissan debuted the video you see above. Nissan aims to revolutionize the way we drive by giving us the option not to drive. In this video, we see a Nissan LEAF equipped with a Piloted Drive system. By activating the Piloted Drive system, Nissan drivers can hand over control to their vehicles, freeing up both their hands and attention from the road. While it may seem like science fiction now, these innovations are closer to being realized than many would think. In fact, similar radar and camera systems shown in this video are already part of Nissan's vehicles, though they are being used primarily for forward emergency braking and intelligent cruise control features, rather than fully autonomous driving.

We may be cruising around autonomously very soon, as Nissan plans to roll out autonomous driving across many vehicles in its fleet within the next four years. So if you're looking for a vehicle on the very bleeding edge of automotive technology, Nissan has the car for you. Visit us at Clinton Nissan for a test drive today!
